Due to the motto “Animation Connects”, the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) invites film fans, artists, professionals and families to Stuttgart to celebrate animated film and the 30th edition of the ITFS together.
Some of the best animated shorts and feature films in the world will be screened in the various competitions. In addition, the festival looks back with "Best of Animation" programmes on the one hand, but also ventures a look into the future with topics such as AI – artificial intelligence. In addition to the country focus on South Africa, there will be inspiring lectures, top-class studio presentations top-class studio presentations by Triggerfish Animation Studios (South Africa) or Those Eyes (Denmark) and JOB, JORIS & MARIEKE (Netherlands).
In the impressive retrospectives, the festival will present a film programme by Izabela Plucińska (Germany, Poland) and by outstanding young talent Sander Joon (Estonia). Gil Alkabetz, a great filmmaker and loyal ally of the ITFS, will be honoured with a tribute.
As one of the world's most important festivals for animated film, ITFS 2023 will occupy various venues in Stuttgart, including Schlossplatz with its free open-air cinema and the city center cinemas, bringing the world of animation together locally.
